I heard a testimony a few nights ago, that centered around a few of the comparisons we use to describe Jesus. It reminded me of when I first discovered how accurate calling God the Light really is. So now I want to share some symbolisms we use to describe God, and how they’re far more accurate than we can believe.
First, the one I’m most passionate about. God is light.
From a scientific point of view, we see how amazing this comparison is! There are 5 qualities of light that break the rules of the universe. And amazingly, they all corresponding with some aspect of God’s character!
1: Light is a contradiction.
Light is both a wave and a particle (Jesus is fully man and fully God). Everything else is either a wave or a particle, and there are multiple experiments we use to prove it. But light is different, and it is both 100% wave and 100% particle. Saying this is equal to saying a number is both odd and even at the same time, but it’s still true!
2: Light does not obey the rules of ordinary matter.
Specifically, if you mix all the colors of paint, you get black, but if you mix the colors of light you get pure white (God is the light in whom there is no darkness). Combining colors in any other way creates black, but light is the exception!
3: Light can transform into matter, and vice versa
When a bright enough photon of light collides with a heavy nucleus, it becomes an electron and its antimatter twin, a positron. It becomes matter! And the reverse is also true, when an electron and a positron collide, they will explode into a pair of light photons! Kind of reminds you of how God became man, and how when we accept Jesus into our hearts, when we die, we are resurrected into spiritual beings. Pretty neat, huh?
4: Light has a sacred status in the universe
Science accords light a special, divine-like status in the universe, because light alone can travel at 180,000 miles per second. It is designated by the letter c, which is a sacred and universal number (God, designated by the Greek letters alpha and omega, is sacred and universal, and of course, divine)
5: Time exists in a timeless world.
Time is elastic. The faster you move, the slower time becomes, and when you travel the speed of light (which you never can) time actually ceases to exist! It is different from eternal, which is stretching forever in both directions. It is outside of time (God, as the Creator of time, is not bound by time. Therefore, He is timeless)
If that wasn’t amazing enough to knock your socks off, how about another three comparisons that intertwine in such an amazing way?
First, did you know that the tongue of a lion is so strong that it strips flesh from bone? Sounds a lot like the Word of God, which “Is sharper than any double edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, separating bone and marrow, discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Jesus is the Word, isn’t he? And He’s also a lion. And He’s also a lamb, who was pierced for us. Don’t they intertwine in such an amazing way? It’s not only the symbols that are full of much deeper meaning, but the way they interact that is also so amazing!!
But don’t just take my word for it. Go! Study the Bible! Find the comparisons that resonate deepest with you, then do research to see if there’s any more revelation to be found than that which is obvious! I think you’ll be surprised!!!
I like how you can study the things in the natural world and get revelation about things in the spiritual world. I love how God is so intentional about getting us to understand and see Him for who He is and how He relates with us.
LOVE this one!!!
