This is where you find out what happened during VBS (other than me giving a teaching)!
VBS lasted from Monday until Friday. The schedule throughout the week stayed the same, so I’ll walk you through a normal day, then explain what was special about each day!
9:00-9:30 > Kids start showing up and we play “get to know you” games, like pick a side, sit down if, or dance battles!
9:30-10:30 > Ashlyn and Kennedy lead games, then Abi, Natalia, Meghan, and Abby lead worship, and finally a speaker shares a message according to the VBS theme of Submerged.
10:30-11:00 > Outdoor games led by Kennedy, Abby, and Ashlyn.
11:00-11:15 > Outdoor games are interrupted by Sofia and Romy bringing out snacks.
11:15-11:30 > Free time.
11:30-12:00 > Deep dive into the Bible lesson, practicing the memory verse of the week, and learning new motions to the songs.
12:00-12:30 > Lunch break.
12:30-1:00 > Craft time led by Lily and Caryse.
That was our schedule throughout the week, and it was so fun to watch my team press into their giftings to share Jesus with these kids!
On Monday, we had 11 kids, which may not sound like a lot, but for a small town like Heidelberg, this was actually more than we were expecting!
On Monday, Meghan taught about Jonah and the Whale, and how, when we trust God, we obey. Sadly, I missed this lesson, since I was at the store with Romy, picking out ingredients to make the kids a fun snack every day! Today, we made an apple whale eating a gummy person Jonah.
On Tuesday, we had 12 kids, and Anna shared a lesson on how Jesus calmed the sea, and when we trust God, we know He’s in control. Romy and I made a sea of yogurt and a boat of pretzels for this!
On Wednesday, we had 14 kids. I was praying for this many, because I’d made 15 Jello Red Seas the night before, and I didn’t want there to be more kids than snacks. As you can probably guess, Natalia taught a lesson on the parting of the Red Sea, and how, when we trust God, He makes a way.
On Thursday, we had 15 kids (I think). This was the day I taught about Jesus walking on water, and how, when we trust God, we walk towards Him. I still made time to help Romy make more yogurt seas after the lesson!
On Friday, our last day, we had 18 kids, and the schedule for today was a little different. Instead of a water themed Bible story, Ashlyn shared the Gospel, and we had the parents come a half hour earlier, so we could show them the video Cimmie had put together of the past week. It was so sweet! Here’s the link if you want to watch it!
And that was our week of VBS! It was a great time of showing God’s love by loving on these kids, and telling them about Jesus, some of them for the first time!
What a great week and wonderful VBS!! All the time and effort poring out Jesus love on these little ones. Wow starting with 11 & ending with 18 sounds like a huge success. You almost doubled your audience. Loved the video! Great Job!! Keep up the good work planting and watering seeds where ever you go.
What a great video. You can tell you put a lot of work and effort into making it a wonderful week for the kids. Most of all it was about Jesus and teaching them to know more about him. Pray these seeds go deep as they grow in their understanding and love of Jesus..
